Kasaar Devi Temple
ASix kilometers from Almora, Kasar Devi temple is a serene spot to visit. It is located at an altitude of 1646 with temperature 32 max & 8 Min. You can reach the temple either by trekking or you can also drive near to the temple.
Kasaar Devi is a worthseeing in the Kumaon hills of Uttarakhand situated on the famous Binsar Wild Life sanctuary road, a few kms from the main town of Almora. It is surrounded by thick jungles consisting of thick cedar, oak, pine and rhododendron trees. From here you can catch a pictureseque glance of wide range of Himalayan snow peaks. Swami Vivekananda made 3 visits to Almora.
After the passing away of his Guru, Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekenanda travelled throughout India teaching Vedanta, and in 1890 he walked from Nainital to Almora. It is said that he spent several days meditating in a cave on a hill close to the Kasaar Devi temple. The Buddhist scholar Lama Govinda Anagrika and his painter wife Li Gotami used to live around.
